For many of us who are so blessed in our day-to-day lives, it can be tough to imagine the hardships that many of our fellow community members go through.
But the fact is that there are so many people in our community that need support– and so many organizations that could use help providing that support. For those of us who are passionate about a cause, giving can be so rewarding– a little contribution can go a very long way toward changing someone’s life.
At Snowie King Shaved Ice, we believe in giving back to the community, through both organized fundraising events and spontaneous acts of giving- we believe that serving our community makes the world a better place.
And we stand behind that.
Since we started the business in 2016, we’ve given over $30,000 back to the community through our fundraising partners– we’ve donated to schools, sports organizations and donated to a myriad of other causes in the community. Please let us know if you can think of a worthy organization that you’d like us to help support.
Why? Because we love our community, and we’re passionate about giving– we also believe in the power of being positive role models, and we hope that through our giving, our children will learn to give back.
So if you’re motivated by the spirit of giving we’ve put together a list of some of the top ways that you can serve your community:
Random Acts of Kindness
Showing random kindness is an inspiring way to help make life better for people everywhere- this trend began a few years ago, and has grown into a beautiful thing.
Whether you’re bringing in home baked muffins for your overworked colleagues, paying for the person behind you in the drive through, or stopping to give an umbrella to someone you see walking in the rain, connecting with your inner desire to spread kindness can be a vital boost to your community.
Donate Blood
More and more, people are understanding on why giving blood is so important. Hospitals and clinics always need blood, and this type of giving can make all the difference, to the point where you can save lives.
Check out your local blood drive to find out how to donate, drop in and donate a pint! If you’re not able to donate blood, why not volunteer at the blood drive- volunteer roles are essential to community services like this.
Mentor
Mentoring has become one of the most popular ways to give back to the community- taking your skills and teaching them to others is a great way to add value to someone’s future.
Whether it’s providing business expertise to your local entrepreneurial organization, helping adults with literacy, or organizing a local story time group for kids- getting involved with mentoring, with sharing your skills with others will enrich lives.
Volunteer with Animals
With the heavy load your local animal shelter carries, there’s always room for more volunteers. If you’re an animal lover with a desire to help, take the time to walk dogs, visit with cats, and help the shelter with animal care. Can’t volunteer?
Shelters are always in need of donations- from money to food, bedding and old towels, giving to your local shelter is a huge help.
Work the Soup Kitchen
Local soup kitchens, homeless shelters and food banks are always in need of volunteers. By helping to serve to those in need, you’re helping to support your community, and that goes a long way toward keeping your community strong.
Pick Up Trash
Trash seems to be everywhere these days- along the roadside, the riverbank, strewn around the local park. Whether organizing a trash-collecting event or just picking up trash on your own, taking the time to pick up trash when you see it not only helps to beautify your community, it helps the environment too!
So many people these days are starting to understand just how much their community needs them- to find opportunities to get involved, source some local organizations and call- find out how to volunteer.
All communities need support, and by volunteering you can help keep things running smoothly while being a strong role model!
